Changing The Lives Of Children

Changing the Lives of Children

Often during Lent, we take on an outreach project to support a cause or a need outside of St. Philip’s. This year we have chosen two projects, both of which will support the lives of children. One will support local children receiving counseling at the CBC and one will help provide education for children in Uganda.

CBC – Help Supply a Wish List Need:
As you know, the Children’s Bereavement Center here in Uvalde is doing excellent work for children and families following the 2022 tragedy. They continue to support this community with much-needed therapy services at no charge to the clients. To do so, they are always coming up with new and creative ways to meet the needs of the children and families. With new initiatives, they often need new equipment or supplies. We have asked them to provide a wish list of items that they could benefit from and enhance their therapy efforts. We hope to provide one or more of their “wish list items” with your generous support this Lent.

An Invitation from Bishop Read to Support Children’s Education in Uganda:
At council this past month Bishop Read offered an invitation and a challenge to the diocese. The World Missions Department has a goal of sending 57 children to school. The scholarship cost is $315 per student. He encouraged each congregation to support as many students as we can to help meet this diocesan goal. Our goal here at St. Philip’s is to raise enough money this Lent to provide at least two scholarships, more if we can!  Here is a link to Bishop Read’s short plea to change the lives of Ugandan children.

Donations can be made online, or by text; simply text the amount you would like to give and lentenoutreach to 830-240-2070. (Example: $25.00 lentenoutreach). You can also give on  Wednesday evenings, in the collection plate on Sundays, or drop donations off in the church office. If you prefer to designate which project you wish to support, please include a notation with your offering. We will let you know about our progress.

Let’s change the lives of children this Lent!
