The Annual Blessing of the Animals
We will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis on Monday, October 4th at 6:00 p.m. on the lawn by blessing the animals and giving thanks for creation. Bring your animals, pets that you love and have them receive a blessing from Fr. Mike and a souvenir medallion of St. Francis. Please make sure your animals friends are leashed or caged appropriately for safety.
St. Francis could be viewed as the original Earth Day advocate. Francis’ devotion to God was expressed through his love for all of God’s creation. St. Francis cared for the poor and sick, he preached sermons to animals and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God.
We will also be collecting donations of dog and cat food and supplies or monetary donations for the Uvalde Humane Society.
We hope to see you there. Invite your friends and neighbors and let’s give thanks for the our animal friends and God’s creation!
