Ready… Set… GO!!!

Ready… Set… GO!!!

And just like that — the Search Committee is officially off and running!

Yes, we have names. Several, in fact. (And before you ask — that’s truly all we can say right now!) According to Alexa “Several” means an indefinite number, but make no mistake — our process is anything but indefinite. It’s clear, thoughtful, prayerful, and already underway.

Here’s how it plays out:

First stop: virtual meet-and-greets with each candidate on Zoom. These are our opening conversations — a chance to begin building connection and getting to know each person.

Next comes the deep dive. We’ll move into in-depth interviews using the questions we carefully crafted from your input and our parish profile. This is where we listen closely, ask boldly, and discern faithfully.

After every candidate has gone through both rounds, we’ll prayerfully select finalists. Those finalists will be invited to Uvalde to experience our community firsthand and meet with the Search Committee only.  We want them to see who we are — and we want to see how they engage with us.

From there, we will present our recommended candidate to the Vestry. The Vestry will review the process, ask questions of the committee, and vote either to move forward into compensation negotiations or to send us back to continue the search.

Is this fast? Not exactly.
Is it intentional? Absolutely.

If all goes smoothly, we hope to call a new rector by late spring or early summer, with a start date before school begins in the fall.

This is an exciting season at St. Philip’s. God is moving, doors are opening, and we are stepping forward with hope and confidence.

We invite you to pray not only for the Search Committee and the Vestry, but also for each candidate and their families as they discern alongside us. The Holy Spirit is at work in more places than we can see.

Keep the prayers coming. We’ll keep you posted.

Stay tuned …
