Annual Parish Meeting
On Sunday, January 19th we gathered in Briscoe Hall to share a meal, present the budget, elect new vestry members, give thanks for the past, and look to the future.
Thanks to Camile DuBose, Noreen Buchanan, and their team of volunteers we feasted on a delicious lasagna lunch amid the beautiful Italian decor!
We heard a budget report from the treasurer, Darrell Zimmerman, and the 2025 budget was discussed. (A copy of the 2025 budget is available in the church office for those who were unable to attend the meeting.)
Brenda Faulkner, the Executive Director of the Children’s Bereavement Center updated the parish on the good work that is happening at the CBC. She thanked St. Philip’s for their part in making the center a reality and for the continued support she receives from us. She invited you to tour the facility if you have not yet done so. But, for the respect and confidentiality of their clients, she asks that you make prior arrangements with her or come by on Fridays at 11:00 a.m. as they do not schedule clients at that time.
Fr. Mike thanked our outgoing vestry members Kristina Stroff, Randy Harris, and Lory Zimmerman for their three years of service and welcomed the newly elected vestry members, Sharon Carson, Willie Edwards, and Lucy Reinhardt.
Gratitude was extended to Randy Harris for serving as senior warden this past year and Lory Zimmerman read a letter from Randy to the parish as he was unable to attend. It was announced that Sharon Carson would serve as Senior Warden this next year.
Father Mike’s annual report was in some ways a continuation of his Sunday sermon on the gospel of John 2:1-11 about Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. He shared the many ways St. Philip’s has done that this past year. He expressed his gratitude for the time he has served at St. Philip’s as your rector and in closing he announced his retirement plans for this summer.
